I am a fully registered physiotherapist, graduating in 1998. I have over 18 years experience of working in the NHS, with the last 10 years in community rehabilitation services. I have also worked in community physiotherapy posts in London and New Zealand. From an early point in my career I became passionate about working with the elderly, and specialised in this area.
My particular expertise is with neurological disease, frailty, trauma and orthopaedics particularly falls prevention, dementia and promoting active ageing. However, the many faceted areas of geriatrics mean a broad knowledge has been essential.
I have attended the World Active Ageing Conference in Glasgow in 2012, and more recently in 2014 the Wales Physical Activity and Ageing Network conference. I also attended the British Geriatric Society conference in Brighton in 2015. I am currently studying a Masters in Ageing and Health Disease at Cardiff University.
I am registered with the Healthcare professions council and am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I am also a member of AGILE, a special interest group for physiotherapists working with the elderly.
